Mr. Szaniawski is a 2010 graduate of St. John's University School of Law and is a candidate to receive a Master's degree (LLM) in Bankruptcy Law. While earning his J.D., Mr. Szaniawski served as an editor of the American Bankruptcy Institute Law Review, as well as a Judicial Intern to the Hon. Carla E. Craig, Chief Judge for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, E.D.N.Y.

Having finished the program's substantive coursework, he is currently finishing his scholarly dissertation, which explores nuanced applications of the Bankruptcy Code's avoidance provisions. In connection with the LLM program, Mr. Szaniawski served on the Problem-Drafting Committee for the 2011 Chief Judge Conrad B. Duberstein Bankruptcy Moot Court Competition, where he also judged several preliminary rounds of competition. In late 2010, Mr. Szaniawski was among several LL.M. candidates who co-authored the Brief in Support of Petitioner for Amici Curiae Law Professors, submitted to the United States Supreme Court in the case of Stern v. Marshall, 564 U.S. ___ (2011).

Mr. Szaniawski has also published a number of articles on bankruptcy topics. While still a J.D. candidate, the National Association of Chapter 13 Trustees Quarterly Journal, in connection with their First Annual Law Student Writing Competition, published his article Can Software Be a Bankruptcy Petition Preparer?, NACTT Quarterly (Spring 2010). Prior to that, the Suffolk County Bar Association had reprinted an abstract of the article, at 25 The Suffolk Lawyer 7 (Mar 2009). Mr. Szaniawski has also authored two articles for the American Bankruptcy Institute Journal: Trustee Held Liable for Debtor's Tax Deficiency, 29-9 Am. Bankr. Inst. J. 26 (Nov. 2010); and Supreme Court Decides Stern v. Marshall, 30-7 Am. Bankr. Inst. J. __ (Sept. 2011).

Mr. Szaniawski is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, as well as a graduate of Colgate University, Hamilton NY (B.A. Philosophy, 1999) and the Horace Mann School, Riverdale, NY.

Prior to law school, Mr. Szaniawski worked in the financial-services sector, initially as a Proprietary Equities Trader, and later as a Registered Investment Advisor Representative. Although none of his licenses remain in force today, Mr. Szaniawski during that time held NASD Series 7 General Securities Representative, Series 55 Equities Trader Limited Representative, Series 63 Uniform Securities Agent, and Series 65 Uniform Investment Advisor licenses, as well as being a registered Life and Health Insurance Sales Agent in NY, NJ, and CT.
